The Adoption Tax Credit

On January 2, 2013, President Obama signed the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 that, among other things, made the adoption tax credit “permanent.”  As with many other tax benefits, this credit was set to virtually disappear at the end of 2012. Fortunately, through the efforts of the Adoption Tax Credit Working Group and some dedicated legislators, the adoption tax credit has been extended indefinitely (although future legislation could always affect this).  More information about the adoption tax credit can be found at or through the IRS’ website.
